OCEANA: AT THE HELM OF OCEAN PROTECTION

At-sea research is at the heart of what we do at Oceana. The data we collect lay the foundations of our campaign work, be it documenting the flora and fauna of a unique ecosystem, illegal fishing activities, or the invisible threats that our oceans face — such as plastic in deep waters.

Since 2005, Oceana has conducted more than two dozen expeditions in the Atlantic and Pacific, the results of which contributed to more than 200 victories and countless discoveries, large and small, including the discovery of a new species and spectacular images of the treasures found in the natural world.

Oceana is at the helm of ocean protection thanks to our flagship, the Ranger, a transoceanic catamaran that is equipped with state-of-the-art science and navigation instruments, including a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) capable of reaching greater depths at 1000 meters.

2020 marks more than an anniversary, it marks a commitment. A commitment to continue in what we do best: protecting our oceans through science.
