Yesterday was the last day of submersions with the ROV. So today, after spending the night in Cabrera -we had to request the necessary permits to spend the night in a protected area like this one- we headed toward Palma to unload the ROV.

We have spent two months on campaign and almost 200 hours of filming with the ROV that we will thoroughly analyze the areas that we took samples from this year during the winter as accurately as possible. These areas range from the Gulf of Cádiz to the Channel of Majorca, passing through the Alboran Sea and Murcia. There are seabeds as deep as 670 m, whether rocky, detritic or sandy. They are plagued with species, some known and others that we must identify.

Once in Palma, disassembling and unloading all of the ROV gear takes several hours’ work; until everything is in place and packed in the van. We will take advantage of the days we have left to dive with scuba divers in the north of Ibiza, in several key spots for marine biodiversity. Our aim is to document interesting species such as algae of the genus Cystoseira, with protected species that inhabit these waters.
